Challenges and Solutions

bulletFear of isolation. Elders fear being stranded at home doing nothing but baby sit. Our program gives them an opportunity to get out and socialize and even  do volunteer work.

bulletFear of poor health. Our survey revealed that the most common health problems of our clients are high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis/back problems. Our program provides healthy meals, exercise, blood pressure monitoring and access to health and social assistance.

bulletFear of language and cultural barriers in dealing with mainstream government and private offices.  Our program provides them an opportunity to get help from our volunteer interpreters and networking with agencies sympathetic to the ethnic communities.

bulletPAEP’s service gap - we have earned the trust of our clients, we have about 700 clients with 350 as regulars. There are so many more things we can do to address their fears and concerns, however, funding and lack of time in the preparation of grant proposals pose as major problems.
